You would think it deserved a name, but alas, we have to settle for calling it Tropical Depression 1E. Doesn't really roll of the tongue, does it? It was bad enough to watch from the safety of a sturdy, concrete house, but I had to make an airport run, so I was right in the middle of it – driving.

Friday, Chuck and I came home from grocery shopping. We unloaded the car and brought everything inside, then, because people were coming over, Chuck grabbed the empty case of beer and went to the Modelorama to get a refill. I came out to lock the gate behind him, and that's when I saw it: a big, ugly spider hanging out just over my front door.

One of the things I love about living in Mazatlan is the likelihood of encountering something wondrous and awe inspiring. I can be plodding along through an average day and unexpectedly find myself confronted with something that makes me feel like a child at Christmas. It's these little gifts for the soul that make Mazatlan such a special place, and my home.

I Love Sun Day!

Sun Day is the best day of the week. A whole day at the beach in the warm sun. And I love the palapas. It really cuts down on the amount of planning you have to do. You just show up and there is a table and food and drinks just waiting for you. No lugging of picnic baskets and folding furniture. What could be better?

The night after the scorpion, we heard Tasha in the garage voicing her "I found something" bark. We both glanced at each other, then in tandem jumped up and bolted for the garage. Before investigating, we called the dogs to us. I had visions of Tasha earning a painful scorpion sting which hurt my heart. We locked the dogs safely in the bedroom and went to see what got Tasha going.
