This is the Energizer summer. It just keeps going, and going, and going. We are still hitting daily heat indexes in the 106° - 109° range. I call 105° "escape temperature", which means that I gather my stuff, duck into the bedroom, and turn on the AC — something that makes the dogs very happy.

I think the dogs are suffering more than we are this summer. Poor Tasha doesn't look much like a German Shepherd anymore. She has lost all traces of her fluffy undercoat and looks rather naked. So every time I gather up the stuff from my desk, I have a dog posse leading the way into the bedroom. If I somehow manage to walk into the bedroom without the dogs noticing, the beep the mini split makes when I turn it on is enough to bring the dogs galloping and skidding across the tile.

They are both smart and have completely figured out the air flow in the room. They waste no time in going to lay down on the cool tile in the space between the bed and the wall. The mini split is located on the opposite side of the room, so the air comes across, hits the wall, and sinks to the floor right where the dogs lay.

It takes about 20 minutes for the room to really cool down, and then the dogs experience true bedroom bliss. The dogs are not allowed on the bed during the night, but in the daytime, when we are working, it's every dog for himself.. Doesn't Reku look happy?

Ha, no different than our house. During the day the only minisplit that might be on is in the upstairs sun room. There's a huge leather sofa opposite the minisplit that gets taken over by dogs. The only ones that can't take advantage of it are the two little Chihuahuas. But then, they are true Mexican dogs and don't seem to care. In fact, sometimes they get chilled and look for something to crawl under to keep warm. And we don't even use the air conditioning; only dehudify, and then set high.

Classic comfy canine pose. Sometimes even I look like that!

That is so funny! We joke about the mini-split beep and our dogs, too. We have a ceiling fan in the bedroom and the air from the minisplit hits the fan and gets spun in a circle. Guess where the dogs are? Right at the perfect spot, the edge of the circle.

We had a few bad days recently but spent most of yesterday afternoon bobbing in the ocean and it really made a difference. Daughter Jessica says with a shrug "It's just like NYC in the summer." No biggie...

    Take care

We never hit 100 in Melaque but you couldn't tell with the humidity. That's part of the reason I'm up in the Lake Chapala area now
