Friday, Chuck and I came home from grocery shopping. We unloaded the car and brought everything inside, then, because people were coming over, Chuck grabbed the empty case of beer and went to the Modelorama to get a refill. I came out to lock the gate behind him, and that's when I saw it: a big, ugly spider hanging out just over my front door.

Cheap Dog Treats

Reku has a powerful need to chew. He always has. We have provided him with a long line of chewy treats since he was a puppy. This has helped to keep him chewing on approved items only, rather than, say, my favorite pair of leather shoes. The problem is there aren't a lot of dog chews available here in Mazatlan. Knowing this, we brought 900 large Greenies with us when we moved here, but that supply has run out.

Name That Plant

I really love all of the plants in our courtyard. They make the area seem more inviting and cooler, at least mentally. The problem is I am not a very good plant guardian. I don't know much about the tropical plants that grow here. I am used to hardy freeze and drought tolerant plants that pretty much don't require any care at all, aside from a little drink of water in July and August. Now I have all these lush plants to take care of, and I don't even know what they are.

Care Package from Home

At the beginning of April, my friends Bonnie and Alan went back to Dallas for a little over a month to take care of some things and check on their rental property there. When I found out that not only were they going to Dallas, but driving, I asked if they would mind taking a purse along with them that I had purchased almost a year ago for my sister's birthday. It's one of those cute ones woven from metallic ice cream wrappers, and I knew my sister would get a charge out of it. My parents live very near Dallas. Bonnie graciously agreed to deliver the purse.
