I was really afraid how I would react to losing our views when we moved. For two years, we had panoramic views of the Pacific and the city: 360° views that included the lighthouse, the bay, Olas Altas, and the cathedral. My views are now restricted to our courtyard and the little piece of sky that can be seem from within its walls. All of our windows face the courtyard. For all intents and purposes, the rest of the world simply does not exist while we are at home. It kinda rocks.

A couple of weeks ago, I revised my appropriate air conditioning policy yet again to include anytime the heat index hits 105. It's a slippery slope. But geez, it's hot. Here it is, not yet 11:00 in the morning, and I am writing this from my air conditioned bedroom because the humidity is 84%, making the heat index 107. The day has not yet gotten into full swing, and I am already limp.

It Came from the Sewer

Friday night, in the dead dark of midnight, our yard was invaded by a creeping terror that rocketed the dogs into their highest alert and defense mode and got my heart rate going above established safe levels. It came from the hole in our courtyard that leads straight to the bowels of Mazatlan. I should probably back up a minute and explain.

I mentioned in a previous post that my glasses broke in the first big storm of the season. And, yes, it has taken me this long to replace them. The arm of the glasses broke off in a non reparable way, so I have been running around looking just a little bit more like the übergeek that I am, with the arm of my glasses held back on with tape. Could I be more cliché?

It's So Convenient
