I'm on a blogging break today, madly scrambling to catch up on work that has been impeded by lots of lightning and the consequential shut down of computers. But I think y'all should still have something to read. Nancy [3] sent me a link to Elliott in Ajijic [4]. I love this post. Elliott does such a wonderful job of capturing one of the things I love about Mexico.

I do love it! And it's so true. Sometimes I feel like I am living in a musical. I will be walking down the street, and someone is singing under their breath. A passerby picks it up, and suddenly you have a full blown chorus walking down the street.
If you have a secret desire to join in such a sing along, pick up some greatest hits of Jose Alfredo Jiminez. He is like the Mexican Frank Sinatra. Not in style, but in beloved-ness and universality. One of his most popular songs around here is the Mazatlan song with the line "where even a poor man can feel like a millionaire". He's pretty good!
