Jennifer [1]: Christmas in July [2]

Thoughts [3]

Our stuff is here! OK, we actually got our stuff June 29, but I haven't posted until now because I've been digging through boxes like a kid on Christmas morning, tossing bubble wrap into the air as I try to discover what treasure each box holds.

The absolute best thing to arrive is our bed. Our beautiful, cushy, comfy bed and my pampered princess Eqyptian cotton 400 thread count sheets. Oh the luxury! I spent the first full day with our stuff in bed.

Next on the list is my wonderful, powerful, speedy, ever-faithful desktop computer and gorgeous LCD monitor with true color display. My laptop isn't bad, but next to my Cadillac of a computer, its a Gremlin. And old, yellow, AMC Gremlin with a few rust spots. I can't believe how much I missed a full size keyboard and 17 inch monitor. And a computer with enough power to do more than 2 things at once.

The kitchen is over run with treasures – microwave, food processor, blender, real plates, and honest to god silverware. Cookie sheets, ramekins, knives, oven safe bakeware...the list goes on. Honestly, the microwave is great, because now I can pseudo-cook without making the whole upstairs unbearably hot. I may become the queen of microwave recipes before the Summer is over.

I am terribly excited to have my washer and dryer. Don't get me wrong, just dropping your laundry off and having somebody else do it is great. But the ability to wash your own underwear is a real treat. Plus, towels don't dry well here after a shower, and when you shower 4 times a day, you run out of towels fast. Now I can have a never ending supply of clean, dry, fluffy, fresh towels.

I think Reku is more excited than any of us to have our stuff. He ran around in a tail wagging frenzy sniffing everything, went out front to warn the neighborhood he had his stuff to protect now, then came in, laid down, and slept deeper than he has since we arrived in Mazatlan. Tasha doesn't seem to care.

It was an adventure without all our things. It was like being on vacation – permanently. Going on vacation is nice. Living on vacation is awful. Now that our stuff has arrived, we can settle in to a more normal existence. With clean towels.
