It's Sun Day! And while it is not exactly sunny right now, I can see a few patches of blue opening in the sky, and I have faith. In a few hours, I am sure it will be a beautiful day to go to the beach. I am checking my beach bag to make sure it has all the things we need. I know I said you can get everything you need at a palapa, but we have discovered a few things we like to have with us. So, what's in my beach bag?
- A towel. Since the water is pretty cold this time of year, the towel is there more for adherence to the principles of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy than any planned beach activity.
- A roll of small, clear, plastic bags. The wind can pick up and carry away anything lightweight left on the table, particularly napkins. We like to make sure we have a bag to put things like used napkins and lime pieces in so they don't end up on the beach. We also dispose of any beach trash our toes come across while digging in the sand.
- A change purse. I always need a few pesos for some performer or other.
- Aluminum cans. I know, it seems a weird thing to carry around. There is a sweet old man with cataracts that walks the beach collecting cans. I save up my aluminum cans during the week and bring them to him.
- A pair of very dark sunglasses. Chuck and I both have our own sunglasses, but the sun at the beach can be quite powerful, especially when reflecting off the water. Which ever one of us is sitting most facing the sun gets the dark glasses.
- Sunscreen. Neither of us burns easily so we haven't used it yet, but I suspect come Summer we will need it.
- My camera. For obvious reasons.
- Two bottle koozies. While Chuck and I adore sitting in the sun, the beer does not. The sun is a super heater, and since we are not Olympic drinkers, our beer will be quite warm before we can finish half. I am not a fan of warm beer, so we bring the koozies.

- sunscreen , gotta put it on the tattoo so it doesn't fade at least.
- dominoes, I am always hoping for a game
- towel. I love to swim except it's a tad cold right now
- spray hair conditioner and a comb so when I get out I can comb my hair
- phone
- money (ok, only if Paul isn't with me)
- peanut butter sandwich (sometimes) since there isn't a lot of vegetarian food at the beach

|189.174.191.xxx |m-d-Y H:i:s sans - meat tenderizerWell, everyone says so. My experience with it was out at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I was wind surfing and fell right on top of one....had inch size welts totally covering both legs (it was a BIG one) The surfing instructor used it on me, along with aspirin....all I really remember is that it took me down a few notches from sobbing hysterically to whimpering and moaning. Whether it was the meat tenderizer or just time, I don't know, but I will use it again!

The weather is beautiful. Crisp in the mornings. Sunny and warm and clear in the afternoons. True perfection. Although the ocean is still a little cold.
