My parents came for another visit - the second one in a year! It was a wonderful visit, but too short. They were only able to stay for a week. At least this time they recognized me at the airport. Last time, it had been so long that I had to wave my arms around like an idiot for them to realize it was me. But this time was different in a lot more ways than that.

I have been an incredibly bad blogger lately. And, I hate to say, it's going to continue for a bit. The good news is it's because I'm inundated with work. I don't use the term casually, either. I am past the point where I would have been turning down work back when we lived in the US. But I know that summer is coming, and things will get really s-l-o-w. I am trying to be a good little squirrel and store up all the nuts I can. So, I am scheduling start dates on projects further and further in the future. I still have seven active projects right now, and it will probably keep up this way for another 6-8 weeks. After spending 12 hours straight sitting here on my duff programming, I just can't sit here any longer to write for the blog.

It's that day again. That day once a year where I publicly embarrass my husband. Well, I guess I actually do that more than once a year, but Chuck's birthday is the only time I do it in writing. I know some of you are groaning at my continuing sappy, soppy sentimentalism, but you are just going to have to deal with it. My blog; my rules.

I think you guys deserve an explanation for my absence, so here it is: I was depressed. It sounds so trifling to say it, but as anyone who has similarly suffered will tell you, it is not. It is something I have struggled with for years, but hasn't affected me since we moved here. Until this summer, that is. I am not going to give you a long, droning post on the causes and effects. Just suffice to say that I had a hard time getting those things done that I absolutely had to do, I had no energy left for anything more. And I couldn't think of a single decent thing to write about. But - hurray! - things are getting better and I am starting to feel energetic and inspired again. Thank you all of you who were worried about me and emailed or commented. Big hugs.

The good news is that I am finishing up a large project, so I will hopefully have time to share some real posts with you soon, but for now I still haven't found time to sit and write a coherent entry with a beginning, middle and end. Rather than give you a classic today, I have assembled a few odds and ends and random thoughts.
