Welcome Spring!

E-mail Print PDF
Today is the first official day of Spring. I know your calendar may have told you different. Ignore it. It's wrong. Today is the day – the one, glorious day. You know that day each year. You wake up and can just smell it in the air, and then, you see that ultimate harbinger, that signal that Spring has truly arrived.

We've had signs of Spring for a few weeks now. There is a pair of parrots busily nesting outside our widow. The bougainvillea has been putting on an even better than usual display. The trumpet trees are covered with huge, fat, brilliant, orange blossoms. People are returning to the beaches, and we even spent the day there ourselves on Sunday.

Today, we woke up to an amazingly perfect sunny day: 75 degrees, low humidity, and a light breeze. My feet are bare for the first time in months. And the ultimate Spring experience occurred: I got my first ripe, sweet Mango. Welcome Spring!

Sounds lovely there! Your description warms the cockles of my heart, which is about the only warm thing about me at the moment: we're having intermittent snow around Western Washington this week through the weekend!

Any chance of a photo of those parrots? :-)

    Hi teadust,

I am sorry this has taken so long. The parrots are very difficult to get pictures of. Mostly because I am not patient enough to sit and wait and wait. I really wanted to get a picture for you of the parrots in flight, because then you see beautiful, vibrant reds, oranges, and purples. They camouflage pretty well when sitting still. Also, I need a better zoom lens. But, here are some pictures, such as they are. These were taken from my living room and dining room windows.

    Jennifer
