I Love a Parade

E-mail Print PDF

We haven't been to the Carnaval parade in several years. It seems like such a big hassle. And I don't like crowds. So even when it seems like it might be fun, I can whine myself into thinking I will have a terrible time and just decide not to go. But this year we had some friends who wanted to go and asked us if we could reserve a table at our favorite hangout which also happens to be a great vantage point to watch the parade. The discordant tinkling of a dropped tray of glasses in a restaurant is almost always followed by catcalls of, "Job opening!" Sometimes it is damned infuriating. And sometimes it doesn't sound like breaking glass at all.

E-mail Print PDF

My heart stopped when Chuck came walking in the house with the electricity bill and uttered the innocuous-sounding words, "We went over the limit."

A dozen questions went through my head:, but I settled for, "How bad?"

"$7,000."

Holy crap.
